Only a few miles from bustling downtown Nairobi, the Mathare Valley is one of the largest slums on the planet. Over a million people live in less than one square mile. Whole families, single-parent families and orphans populate Mathare Valley, often sharing a single room. Jobs are scarce, food is expensive, and disease runs rampant due to the lack of basic sanitation.
Community Christian Church partners with Hope Partnership to bring light to the darkness, food to the hungry, education to children, job skills to parents, and hope to the hopeless through our missionary partners with CMF International. Community Health Evangelism (CHE) helps people identify and create solutions to their challenges with their own resources.
Community Christian Church will send a team of volunteers on a Mission Trip (July 29 - August 12, 2012) to assist in the Nairobi ministry, i.e. light construction, kid’s camps, micro-enterprise and medical. The cost of trip is $2,600. If you would like to go on this incredible mission trip with Pastor Scott: Click here for an application, and click here to make a payment.
Community has "adopted" the Mathare Valley slum to offer a future for children through child sponsorship. People from our congregation sponsor elementary children for about a dollar a day or secondary school children for about two dollars a day. Sponsored children receive an education, food, clothing, medical care, and books in the name of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, click this link to CMF Child Sponsorship
