Decision Day FAQ’s
What is it?
A day set aside to celebrate the decisions people have made to be baptized into Jesus Christ or become members of Community Christian Church.
When is it?
Decision Day is Sunday, January 31 during the 9:30 AM, 11:15 AM and 6:00 PM worship services.
How do I sign up to participate?
Go to communitycc.com/decisionday and click on the registration form found under the class videos.
Do I need to attend a class before being baptized or becoming a member?
If you have not attended the Discovering Community class or a Baptism Class in the past, you are strongly encouraged to go to communitycc.com/decisionday and watch the appropriate class video.
I am coming to be baptized by immersion into Christ. What do I do?
You should bring a towel, bathing suit and/or shorts and a shirt to wear underneath the baptism T-shirt that we provide. If you show up without those items, no problem, we have extra. Come to Room 132 fifteen minutes before the service you will be attending to pick out a T-shirt, get some instructions, and pick up your gift bag. If you don’t know where the room is, ask for directions at the Welcome Center or Guest Services. Come forward during the invitation time on Decision Day after the message and a Decision Counselor will help you get ready for your baptism. We provide changing rooms and a special baptism T-shirt that is yours to keep. You can remove your mask before entering the baptistery.
I am already an immersed believer. How do I become a member of Community?
Come forward during the invitation time on Decision Day. Decision Counselors will guide you on what to do after coming forward.
What happens when I come forward during the invitation time on Decision Day?
This is a wonderful opportunity for the congregation to celebrate your decision. After everyone has come forward, we will introduce you to the congregation and as a group have you repeat together the good confession, “I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, my Lord and Savior.” (You do not need to memorize this statement).
What should I do if I am uncomfortable coming forward or being baptized during the worship service?
We will have some baptisms on Decision Day after the 6:00 PM worship service at 7:30 PM in a more private setting. If you desire another time for a private setting for your baptism, please contact Tim Gray at 954.724.7400 ext. 211 or firstname.lastname@example.org. It is recommended that you come forward during the invitation time so that everyone can celebrate your decision, but it is not required.
Can my family come forward and be baptized with me?
Yes, but all being baptized should have watched a Baptism Class (adults), Discovering Community Class (adults), Middle School / High School Baptism Class (teens), or Kids Baptism Class (children).
What about photography?
You may certainly have family or friends photograph the decision time and/or your baptism, but there will be church-provided video taken of the baptisms. If you are baptized, you will receive a DVD of your baptism. As you may know, from time to time, we show videos of those baptized at Community, but we will never show your baptism video without your permission.
May I bring family and friends?
Definitely! We encourage you to celebrate this event with those close to you. Invite them to join you for the worship service. If you are being baptized, let them know that you will rejoin them after the service ends. They can wait for you in the Auditorium.
If I still have questions, who should I contact?
Please contact Tim Gray at 954.724.7400 ext. 211 or email@example.com.
