Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, hosted by Community Christian Church, is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. On one night, February 9, 2024, churches, from around the world, will host Night to Shine for 115,000 honored guests through the support of 215,000 volunteers!
Where is the event?
Night to Shine will happen around the world on the same date, February 9, 2024, hosted by local churches. Community Christian Church is an approved host, located at 10001 West Commercial Blvd. Tamarac, FL 33321.
When is the event?
Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
What is expected?
Upon completion and acceptance of your online registration here, you will be asked to provide the name of your escort. This is the person that will be attending with the honored guest. As the event draws closer you will be provided with a detailed schedule, maps, and all the information you will need.
What will each honored guest experience?
Upon arrival, guests will check in, receive instructions, name tags, and directed to our “Glam Squad” who will provide a small dash of “glam” with hair, makeup, and shoe shine. Each honored guest will be paired with a “Buddy” who has been carefully selected as well as fully background screened and trained. This Buddy will hang out the entire event with the honored guest. Then, the guest and his/her escort will be taken to a stretch limo where they can celebrate and travel for a bit before hitting the Red Carpet. The Red Carpet will be adorned with paparazzi, pom poms, and other people cheering you on as you enter the prom experience. This begins with photo opportunities as well as some fun give-a-ways! The prom experience will include dinner for the honored guests, of course dancing and music, karaoke, dessert, and a crowing ceremony in which each guest receives a crown.
What is the dress code for this event?
This event is formal; attendees must dress in formal attire. Makeup artists (women) and hair stylists (for men and women) will be available for touch-ups at the beginning of the event.
Does the escort need to stay with the Honored guest since he/she will have a buddy?
No, the idea is to allow the escorts to have their own respite space. In that space, the escort will enjoy dinner, some activities, and the opportunity to interact and connect with other Special Needs families and caretakers. In the event that the Honored Guest requires medical care or needs the escort to stay with them, that can be arranged. However, we have a fully trained medical team on hand to assist if necessary.
How would you define an individual with special needs?
The event is open to anyone with physical or cognitive special needs, ages 14 and older. We do not have specific guidelines for the eligibility of guests in relation to the legitimacy or severity of their disabilities. We trust each church to use their best judgement as to what qualifies as a special need.
What is the minimum age for Night to Shine honored guests?
Night to Shine is for anyone with special needs, ages 14 and older. There is no age maximum.
