After nearly 33 years as Community’s Senior Pastor, Scott believes the time has come to pass the baton to a leader who will carry our mission into the next generation. Almost four years ago, he initiated a conversation with our elders about preparing for this day. Since then, they have spent countless hours praying, studying healthy pastoral succession, and seeking wise counsel.

This moment has been years in the making. Scott and Lori, along with our elders, are very excited about Alex becoming our next Senior Pastor. He was the elders’ first choice and Scott’s first choice. For the past three years, Scott has invested many hours each month mentoring Alex, watching him lead, and seeing God prepare him for this responsibility. As Scott shared in the announcement, “He’s ready!”

With the blessing of our elders, Scott will become Community’s Pastor at Large, serving, coaching, and encouraging churches and pastors. He will help them grow stronger and reach more people with the hope of Jesus, paying forward what God has taught us through our years of ministry together.

Scott and Lori love Community deeply and are excited to cheer on Alex and Stacie as they lead us into this next season.

Leading Community calls for someone who loves Jesus, loves people, and loves this church. In the announcement, Scott highlighted the qualities that give him and our elders such confidence in Alex:

• Exceptional leadership, with the vision and energy to guide Community forward.

• A genuine love for people and a heart to serve them.
• A deep commitment to Community and the mission God has entrusted to us.
• A willingness to learn and grow, demonstrated through years of mentoring.
• A wife and family who share in this calling, with Stacie ready to serve alongside him.

Alex expressed his heart simply: “I love this church” and “I’m honored to carry the mission forward.” We are grateful for the way God has prepared him for this moment.

• October 2026 through January 2027: We will walk through this transition together, celebrating God’s faithfulness through Scott and Lori’s ministry and preparing for Alex and Stacie’s next season of leadership.
• January 31, 2027: Scott concludes his service as Senior Pastor and passes the baton of leadership to Alex.

The heart of our mission continues: to “see to it that no one misses the grace of God” (Hebrews 12:15). We are grateful for all God has done, and we look ahead with confidence in His faithfulness and excitement about what He will do next.
